This past weekend I travelled to the Midlands in Natal which was a great escape from the city life in Joburg; with nothing more than occasional reception on my cell phone and my digital SLR camera in hand. We stayed at a small, rustic yet comfortable place on the edge of a gorge which had an unbelievable view. I made sure to wake at sunrise every morning no matter what the weather, to take some pictures.
The first morning I woke up to a landscape of fog and no sunshine at all. It made for some great photographing, especially for black and white shots! Here are some of the photos I took in the mist of the Midlands.

The next morning however was the complete opposite. Blue skies, sun shining, heat blazing down on the Midland planes in the early hours of the morning; what a fabulous day! Out with the camera in the early morning again, with a polarizing filter on to bring out the beautiful blue sky! Here are the results of the mornings ‘photo shoot’!

It is always great to get out to a different environment, with a different landscape and with different weather patterns; allowing for some creative, exciting photography.

Nice shots..looks like the cows are ignoring you though :).
You right about the difference a change in one’s surrounding makes, especially in out industry (IT/Design).
I travel to Louis Trichardt on the weekend..its really awesome this time of the year up there..just did not have the camera..

I use a Canon EOS 400D… Thanks for the comments
Haha, there is a funny story with these cows actually! The cows were in the middle of the field grazing and I started doing a cow impression… All the heads popped up and suddenly they all cam right towards me! I can now speak another language, COW!
